Your Africa safari begins at Tsavo, the mighty river of west Kenya and covers one of the grandest river basins over 15 days before ending at Nairobi. With private flight transfers, gourmet dining and unmatched experiences with the wild game of Africa, this truly is a trip whose memories you can cherish for a lifetime. Your walking safari covers nearly 150km of pristine African terrain on foot coupled with numerous game drives across the great Kenyan national parks. The famed Big Four will grace you with their presence throughout most of the experience, along with so many other megafuna and microfauna. 

Pricing for this experience is as follows: 

USD 9520/- per pax for double sharing accommodation
USD 11860/- per pax for single sharing accommodation  

All transportation for the duration of your luxury experience will be completely taken care of, so there is no need to worry! Your charter from Nairobi to the start of the tour will be via private plane charter. Your game drives will take place in hardy safari jeeps with open tops for better viewing, and improved suspension for making the ride plush. All living spaces and food will be transported by our expert staff along with your belongings so that your tour remains stress free.  

Living during the Great Walk will be in luxury tents on single sharing or double sharing basis. Each tent comes with its own private lavatory and shower. For our last few days at Malindi, we will be staying at a comfortable coastal retreat. 

Dining throughout your entire experience will be a lavish and wholesome affair, with the best of both African and Continental cuisine. Sundowners are available to enjoy every evening, along with wine, beers, spirits and soft drinks. 

As the Great Walk is primarily a tour on foot, please note that a certain level of physical fitness is expected of all our guests. We will be covering over 8-10km on foot almost every day across varied terrain. While we will have vehicles with us and also for the game drives, the best experience is on foot. We also recommend that you get sturdy shoes that have already been broken into, as new shoes will only hinder the walk for you!

18 March:
Your First Taste Of The Africa Safari

A private charter flight awaits you at Nairobi to ferry you to the start of our journey at Tsavo West. Experience the magic of Mount Kilimanjaro enroute. Reach Tsavo and embark on a game drive to get your first taste of the wild. 

19 March:
The Tsavo River On Your Africa Safari

We rise with first light, refresh with Tea and after breakfast we begin our foot safari acrossthe vast 8,000 square mile wildernesses that is Tsavo. Our route closely follows the TsavoRiver, flanked by rich riverine vegetation. 

20 March:
Historic Tsavo During Your Africa Safari

Our walk today takes us past Rhodesia Hill, and culminates in an exciting gorge, before reaching our camp. We have lunch and then a restful afternoon in camp.

This region of Tsavo was the location of intense fighting during the First World War, when Tanzania was known as German East Africa and Kenya was British East Africa. The Tsavo
River was of vital logistical importance during what would become the battle for Kilimanjaro.

Maji Ya Chumvi On Your Africa Safari

We continue along the Tsavo River, through fairly thick, lush riverine forest. As we follow the trail your guide will point out the many animal tracks and spoor along the way. Our walk today takes us away from the mountain as we enter drier country leading to Maji Ya Chumvi (Salt Water).

22 March:
The Man Eaters Of Tsavo During Your Africa Safari

Our fifth day on this grand adventure takes us through a region where the famed Man Eaters of Tsavo were known to rule. This morning walk takes us to the region where 1896 two lions ruthlessly albeit bravely halted the advance of the British Empire literally in its tracks.

23 March:
Tsavo East National Park For Your Africa Safari

We drive the short distance to Tsavo railway station, and continue our walk down the river. Today we enter Tsavo East National Park. At this point the Tsavo River makes its way down towards the confluence of the Athi River which flows beneath the prominent Yatta escarpment, where it forms the Galana River. We reach our waiting vehicles in the late morning, and drive to our camp. After lunch and siesta, we game-drive down the Galana River. 

Tsavo shall be our base camp for the next 2 days.

24 March:
The Galana River On Your Africa Safari 

After breakfast, we drive up river and start our walk down the Galana River. This, Kenya’s most beautiful river, is very different in atmosphere to where we have been. It is wider, palm-fringed, and rich with predators such as Lion, leopard and cheetah.

25-26 March:
More Galana On Your Africa Safari

Over the years, our experiences with lions, has enabled us to unravel some mysteries surrounding the maneless lions of this area. And there are still many unanswered questions. We have now amassed a considerable amount of information, and have developed a good idea of where the lions of the Galana are located from month to month.

As our foot safari continues down the Galana River it is highly likely we will be able to make contact with some of these lions. Lunch is in camp, followed by late afternoon game drives​.

27-28 March:
Full Moon On The Galana River During Your Africa Safari

Arise to a relaxing morning with a two part walking day as we move on down to the river towards the elephant and lion territory. Lunch today will be a picnic in an atmospheric grove of palm trees. We begin the second section of our walk in the mid-afternoon, arriving at the edge of the park at around 6:00 PM. Enjoy a full moon night and moon rise today from the comfort of your camp fire.

Malindi And Onwards From Your Africa Safari

This morning a relaxed rise followed by a lovely breakfast and thereafter a short drive toMalindi arriving at Visiwa Beach Watamu. We will see some wildlife along the way and then a quick drive to Watamu arriving for lunch at Visiwa. Afternoon to relax followed by a celebration dinner on the beach.

For International and Domestic Air tickets a 100 % prepayment must be received at the timeof confirmation of the booking. These are subject to penalties of various kinds and therefore please confer with us to ascertain what is applicable.Payments are required as follows unless otherwise agreed. 

50% deposit upon confirmation of the Safari if booked more than 90 days in advance. Balance payable 60 days prior to arrival. In case the Safari is booked within 59 days,full prepayment is required at the time of booking. All Bank Charges are to be borne by the clients or agents.

The following Cancellation policy is applicable:
Over 90 days: Nil Penalty
89- 60 days: 20 % Penalty
59- 45 days: 33 % Penalty
44- 30 days: 50 % Penalty
29- 15 days: 75 % Penalty
Less than 14 days: No refund at all
